Timescape Switches

Timescape is a research project investigating how design structures temporal experience within everyday life. Drawing on the concept of timescapes developed by sociologist Barbara Adam, the study examines how objects, technologies, and domestic infrastructures shape rhythms, durations, and transitions in daily routines.

Through a case study focused on Shabbat, the project explores how material arrangements, such as timers, switches, and domestic devices, organise time by regulating when actions are possible, postponed, or intentionally restricted. Rather than treating time as a neutral background, the research approaches it as a condition actively shaped through design.

Timescape Switches

The challenge was to communicate complex industrial and environmental processes in a way that would be both clear and engaging for a wide range of audiences. The communication kit needed to support Veolia’s commercial teams by providing structured and easy-to-use presentation materials, while also reinforcing the visibility of the Plastiloop initiative.

Particular attention was given to the development of visual diagrams explaining plastic recycling cycles, as well as large-format communication tools such as roll-up banners. The objective was to create a coherent visual system capable of simplifying technical information while highlighting Veolia’s commitment to circular plastic management.
